Cutters Sweep Black Bears With Marathon Win

The Williamsport Crosscutters won their sixth consecutive game to start the 2015 season with a 2-1 win against the West Virginia Black Bears in 15 innings. The Crosscutters rallied in the bottom of the fifteenth inning, scoring the game winning run on an RBI single from Jose Pujols to score Zach Coppola from third.

The Black Bears would struggle to put any offensive pressure together against the Crosscutters until the ninth inning. Jason Zgardowski was one out away from picking up his third save of the season when Logan Hill placed a ball in the right center field gap to score Kevin Newman from second base to tie the game 1-1. The Cutters had taken a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as Wilson Garcia singled to plate William Cuicas from second base.

Wilson Garcia finished the night 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Jan Hernandez went 2 for 6 on the night. Starter Denton Keys took a no decision in his first outing of the season working five innings while allowing just one hit and striking out six batters.
