Scrappers Fall Victim to Perfect Game

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers (3-3) lost to the Batavia Muckdogs (1-5) 1-0 at Dwyer Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Muckdogs combined to throw a perfect game. Gabriel Castellanos went 7 innings and struck out 12. He was pulled for Brett Lilek, who struck out the side in the eighth. Steve Farnworth got the save in the top of the 9th.

This was the third perfect game in New-York Penn League history, and the first since July 15, 2007, per a tweet from MiLB.com.

The Scrappers end the six-game road trip with a 3-3 record. They took two of three from Batavia. Mahoning Valley travels back to Niles tonight to open their season at home on Thursday night against the State College Spikes. Jose Zapata gets the ball in the opener at 7:05.
