Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
Wappingers Falls, NY (6/24/15)- The Hudson Valley Renegades fell in the rubber game of the three-game series to the Lowell Spinners by a score of 10-1 on Wednesday evening at Dutchess Stadium.
Lowell scored a run in the top of the first inning when with one out, left fielder Bryan Hudson tripled and scored on a wild pitch. The big inning for the Spinners came in the second inning as they scored six runs on four hits, highlighted by a bases clearing three-run triple by first baseman Tucker Tubbs. That closed the night for Hudson Valley's starting pitcher Greg Maisto (0-1), as he took the loss in an inning and two-thirds and gave up five earned runs.
Lowell scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning on RBI singles by designated hitter Zach Kapstein and second baseman Victor Acosta, along with an RBI ground out by third baseman Aneudis Peralta.
The Renegades scored their lone run of the night in the bottom of the fifth inning as second baseman Oscar Sanay came around to score on a one-out triple by shortstop Jake Cronenworth. Hudson Valley received a nice performance out of the bullpen by right-hander Diego Castillo, who pitched four scoreless innings and struck out five batters.
Lowell's starter Luis Ramos (1-0) earned the win after going six innings and allowing five hits and a run.
Notes: Four of Hudson Valley's seven hits on the night went for doubles, giving them a share for the New York-Penn League lead with 20 team doubles. Jake Cronenworth added a double along with his triple and now has a five-game hitting streak with three multi-hit games during that stretch.
The Renegades begin a three-game series against the Vermont Lake Monsters on Thursday, June 25, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. Thursday evening is "Frank & Stein" Night presented by Days Hotel. Call 845-838-0094, or visit www.hvrenegades.com to purchase your tickets now.
