Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
Williamsport plated a 9th inning run to avoid being shutout for the second straight night, falling 4-1 to the Scrappers.
Brayan Gonzalez drove in the Cutters lone run in the 9th inning with a sacrifice fly, giving him his 24th RBI of the season. He finished the night 2 for 3 with a double. Jonathan Guzman recorded the other multi-hit game for the Cutters, finishing 2 for 4 with a pair of single.
Juan Escorcia took the loss in just his third start of the season, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk, striking out five betters. Escorcia allowed a home run in the outing, his 1st allowed this year. Tyler Carr allowed an unearned run in three innings out of the bullpen, giving up two hits and striking out four.
The Crosscutters fall to 12-15 at home this season and 3-4 in games decided by three runs. In the first two games of the series, both pitching staffs have combined to strike out 42 batters.
