Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- Batavia welcomes Auburn to Dwyer Stadium for the back end of a home-and-home series with the Doubledays. The first game of the series was postponed due to rain. Auburn has been to Dwyer Stadium just once this season and won that game.
That was last night- The Muckdogs won the final game of the series against the West Virginia Black Bears on Tuesday. The 1-0 win was Batavia's first shutout win of the season. The Muckdogs' lone run came from a Denis Karas single to drive in Jerar Encarnacion.
Rodriguez Rocks The 'Pen- LHP Manuel Rodriguez has been lights out for Batavia this season from the bullpen. He has not given up an earned run this season since June 19th. That stretch has lasted 30.2 innings for Rodriguez. Six of his last seven outings have seen him also strike out at least four batters, including a season-high seven his last time out.
Two-out trouble- The Muckdogs have had issues getting out of innings once they've reorded two outs. Batavia has given up a .289 average with RISP and two outs. Of Batavia's 251 runs against, 102 of them have crossed the plate with RISP and two outs.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has now hits in 19 of his last 24 games. He's tallied 29 hits, two home runs and has crossed the plate nine times in that span. He is second on the team with four home runs. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Reynolds Raking- Sean Reynolds has been able to find the power in his bat this season. He currently leads the league in home runs, second in RBI's and also leads the league in runs scored. He is also the league leader in walks with 37. Reynolds currently stands tied for second in the NYPL in extra-base hits.
Close Calls- Batavia has played a total of 50 games this season, 30 of which have been decided by two runs or less. Batvia has played the most one-run games of any team this season, and the Muckdogs are 16-14 in games decided by two or less. Batavia has the third-best reord in one-run games, and the worst record in two-run games at 2-6.
Recent Roster Action- On August 9th, 3B Bubba Hollins was promoted to Greensboro, and RHP Ryan McKay was assigned to Batavia.
Marlins Update- Miami fell to St. Louis last night 7-1. The seven runs for St. Louis came on the power of two home runs, two doubles and a single.
