Cutters Sign Former White Sox Draft Pick

(West Haven, CT- July 7, 2004) The New Haven County Cutters today, July 7th, have signed outfielder Darren Ciraco.

The 23-year old had his best season in 2002 while playing in the Appalachian League. In 56 games, he batted .329 with a career-high 10 homers and 47 runs scored.

The New Rochelle, NY, native was a draft choice of the Chicago White Sox in the 2000 draft.

Ciraco is a career .253 hitter with 189 RBI and 162 runs scored in four seasons of professional baseball.

To make room on the roster, the Cutters released centerfielder Tyrone Pendergrass. The 27-year old was batting .193 with 14 runs scored and 7 stolen bases.

Thursdays at Yale Field are Thirsty Thursday's with $1 Budweiser and Bud Light draft beers. After every Friday night home game this summer, a fireworks show will light up the New Haven sky.
