New Haven County Cutters News Release

Getting ready for the second half of the season, the New Haven County Cutters have purchased the contract of hard-hitting outfielder Carlos Brackley from the Jackson (MS) Senators of the Central League Monday. The five-year professional is expected to be in uniform for Wednesday?s game against the Can-Am League Grays. "From everything we have learned, we expect Carlos to give us another solid hitter to help get us in position for a strong second half push," said Bob Wirz, director of player procurement.

A graduate of Wake Forest University, Brackley began his pro career in the Boston Red Sox organization before playing two seasons with the Evansville Otters in the Frontier League. Last season with the Otters he batted .336 with nine home runs and 42 runs batted in. He hit 14 home runs in 2003.

In 45 games with the Senators this season, the 6-2, 235-pound Hamilton, NJ native hit .269, had three home runs and drove in 21, mainly splitting time between outfield and the designated hitter spot. Brackley can play first and base, as well.

Brackley's versatility extends beyond the baseball diamond. He is currently working towards obtaining his law degree from Rutgers University.

The Cutters?' acquisition of Brackley brings the roster to 22, the league maximum.
