North Shore Spirit News Release

Lynn, MA.--SportsTicker, the official statistician of the Can-Am League, has named North Shore right-hander Ryan Bicondoa Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 4-10.

Bicondoa dazzled in his two outings, twirling a complete-game one-hitter with seven strikeouts against first-place Quebec on Monday, and then throwing a seven-inning complete game against Brockton on Saturday, limiting the Rox to one run on eight hits while striking out five. The Riverton, Wyoming, native has a 4-3 record, is third in the Can-Am League with a 2.41 ERA and has pitched a league-leading four complete games.

Bicandoa was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the New York Yankees and spent the 2002 season at Staten Island of the New York-Penn League, where he led the league with a 1.90 ERA and was named to the league's post-season all-star team. Bicondoa, 26, started the 2003 season at Class A Tampa before being traded to the New York Mets organization in the deal that brought Armando Benitez to the Yankees. Last season, his first in independent baseball, he finished second in the Northeast League with 21 saves for the Spirit, going 1-5 with a 4.54 ERA.
