The Williamsport Crosscutters defeated the Tri-City ValleyCats 3-2 Thursday night at Historic Bowman Field, moving to 10 games over .500 for the first time this season.

The Cutters jumped in front 1-0 in the second, as Aaron Altherr reached on a hit-by-pitch, stole two bases, and scored on a sac fly to center by Bob Stumpo.

Tri-City managed to knot the game 1-1 off Perci Garner in the fifth, as Zach Johnson singled and scored on a double by Miles Hamblin.

Williamsport took the lead again in the sixth, as Kyrell Hudson singled and scored on a triple by Geancarlo Mendez. Aaron Altherr followed Mendez's triple with a sac fly to center to make it a 3-1 game.

The ValleyCats got a run closer in the top of the ninth, as Neiko Johnson's two-out RBI single off Gabriel Arias made it 3-2. But Arias rebounded by striking out Justin Gominsky to seal the victory for the Cutters.

Garner finished with 4.1 innings pitched in his first start of the season. He allowed one run on five hits while striking out six. Cody Fick earned the win after firing two innings of shutout relief.
