Altoona Curve News Release

AKRON, OH - Pedro Lopez belted a solo home run in the tenth inning to complete a five run rally as Altoona defeated Akron 7-6 Sunday at Akron.

Akron got off to a fast start scoring four runs in the first innings. The first two runs scored on a single by Josh Rodriguez. After a fielder's choice plated the third run, Rodriguez scored on a single by Mickey Hall.

The Curve would battle back in the fourth on a two run home run by Jason Delaney to cut the Aeros lead to two.

Akron responded in the seventh when Jerad Head knocked in two runs on a single to left to give the Aeros a 6-2 advantage.

The Curve answered in the top half of the eighth inning loading the bases without any outs. Hector Gimenez would score the first run of the inning on a fielding error. Then two runs scored on a throwing error on a potential double play ball. The Curve then tied the game when Lopez scored on a Jose Tabata single.

With two outs in the tenth Lopez only saw one pitch and he drilled it to left for the home run to give the Curve their only lead of the day at 7-6.

Altoona (5-12) has the day off tomorrow before traveling to Reading for a three game series. Righty Brad Lincoln (0-1, 3.86) will take the hill for the Curve and Reading will counter with south paw Joe Savery (0-1, 4.50) on Tuesday night.

First pitch Tuesday is scheduled for 6:35 with radio coverage starting at 6:20 on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
