Curve Drop Fourth In A Row To R-Phils 6-0

ALTOONA, PA - In a low scoring affair the Altoona Curve fell for the fourth consecutive game Monday afternoon 6-0 at the hands of the Reading Phillies at Blair County Ballpark.

Reading scored first in the top of the second inning when Kevin Mahar and Neil Sellers had back to back doubles with Sellers picking up the RBI. Then in the sixth Michael Taylor got ahold of a Josh Hill pitch and sent it into the left field bleachers for a solo homer to put the Phils up 2-0. Reading then put up four more insurance runs in the ninth against Curve reliever Shawn Nottingham.

Curve starter Kyle Bloom (0-2) had a solid outing tossing five innings and giving up with one run on three hits in the loss. Jim Negrych had his second consecutive multi hit game with a 2-for-3 effort.

The Curve (14-30) will welcome in the Bowie Baysox for a three game series starting Tuesday night at Blair County Ballpark. Altoona will have right hander Brad Lincoln (1-3) on the mound coming a complete game shutout last time out. For Bowie RHP John Mariotti (0-2) will get the start.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. with radio coverage beginning at 6:35 p.m. on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network. Tuesday's game will be another Two-for-Tuesday at the ballpark, tickets, hot dogs, and sodas are all two for the price of one.
