Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - After a seven-game road trip, the first-place Altoona Curve opens up the final full month of the regular season on Tuesday with a three-day, four-game series against the Akron Aeros (AA - Cleveland Indians) at Blair County Ballpark. The homestand features giveaways, a Bark in the Park night, and 2-for-1 deals.
It all gets underway on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. with a true Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband and KRAFT Singles as the Curve will open the series with the Aeros with a doubleheader. In addition to the two games, fans can receive two-for-one offers on tickets, hot dogs and small popcorns for the twin bill. It's also the Altoona First Savings Bank "First Game of the Month."
The homestand continues on Wednesday at 7 p.m. with a once-a-year event in Bark in the Park Night. Curve fans are encouraged to bring their dogs to the ballpark and take in the game with the Aeros. Wednesday evening is also Central Blair Recreation Commission Night at Blair Country Ballpark. The Curve will also try to get Altoona resident Erin Kelly on "Ellen" hosted by Ellen DeGeneres by helping WALY 103.9 and the Altoona Mirror with a publicity campaign.
A jam-packed Thursday - including three giveaways on one night - will wrap up the three-day homestand with first pitch slated for 7 p.m. The first 2,000 fans that come into the ballpark will receive the final Logo Ball Giveaway courtesy of Peoples Natural Gas. The third and final logo ball in the series features 2009 Curve starting pitcher Brad Lincoln in cartoon format. The other two logo balls featured 2009 Curve MVP and Pirates' third baseman Pedro Alvarez and former Curve and current Pirates' outfielder Andrew McCutchen. Peoples Natural Gas will also provide water bottles to be given away as fans exit the ballpark on Thursday.
Fans that are ages 21 and over and purchase a beer on the party deck during Thursday night's game can take home a free pint glass as they exit the ballpark thanks to Furrer Beverage. Qualifying fans can pick up the free pint glass at the N.E.W. Customer Service Booth at the end of the game.
Thursday is also a Thirsty Thursday with $2.00 16 oz. Bud Light drafts and $1.50 22 oz. sodas on special during the game. Fans can also save money on grandstand tickets to the Aug. 5 contest with a Weis Preferred Shopper's Card.
