Iowa Cubs News Release

Matt Camp went 3-for-4 in the Iowa Cubs' 7-4 victory over the Nashville Sounds Wednesday afternoon at Principal Park.

In his sixth start of the year, Iowa's Jose Ascanio struck out nine batters in five innings of work for his first win of the season. Ascanio allowed just three hits and walked no one.

Jason Dubois highlighted Iowa's six-run second inning with a three-run home run. Doug Deeds began the inning with a single and Nate Spears and Mark Johnson followed with back-to-back singles. A wild pitch allowed Deeds to score before Camp drove in two runs with a single, for a 3-0 Iowa lead. Dubois extended Iowa's advantage with his homer to end the inning with the Cubs ahead 6-0.

Iowa held Nashville scoreless through five innings until Joe Koshansky hit a three-run home run off Iowa reliever Vince Perkins, to trim Iowa's lead 6-3. Iowa plated one more run in the eighth inning when Andres Blanco hit a run-scoring single to cushion the lead, 7-3. Blanco was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI. Jason Bourgeois and Hernan Iribarren hit consecutive doubles in the ninth inning for Nashville. Bourgeois scored on Iribarren's double for the 7-4 final.

Bard Snyder's saw his season-high 15-game hit streak came to an end today, as he went 0-for-4.

The Cubs and Sounds play the final game in this four-game series tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
