New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Chris Coghlan homered and drove in a career-high six runs, helping the Zephyrs avoid setting a franchise record for consecutive home losses with a 7-3 win over the Round Rock Express on Wednesday.

The Zephyrs' second baseman doubled home a pair of runs in the first inning on a double, drove in a run with a third-inning sacrifice fly, then put the game away with a three-run homer in the sixth as the Z's won for the first time in 10 games at Zephyr Field this season.

The nine straight home losses were the most ever to start a season, and tied the club record set in 1995.

Coghlan, who was batting .214 after an 0-for-5 night on April 23, has since gone 20-for-36 (.555) with eight walks, while hitting three home runs and driving in 16 runs over his last 10 games.

The Zephyrs defense almost allowed Coghlan's huge night go to waste with three errors in the sixth inning, allowing Round Rock to score three unearned runs. With the tying run at third and the go-ahead run at second, Levale Speigner got Reggie Abercrombie to ground back to the mound to end the threat and maintain a one-run lead.

The top of the Zephyrs lineup combined to go 8-for-11 while scoring all seven of the team's runs.

New Orleans starter John Koronka worked five scoreless innings for the win, allowing three hits. The left-hander struck out five and walked two.

The Z's and Express conclude the series Thursday at 7:00 p.m., with Daniel Barone facing Alberto Arias.
