C's Bounce Back Better Than Mickey Rourke's Career

Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Civic Stadium - Eugene, OR) - Just hours after falling by 12 runs in Salem, OR, the Vancouver Canadians strung together 17 hits en route to a 13-6 victory over the Eugene Emeralds to kick off a three-game series on Wednesday night at Civic Stadium.

Vancouver chased Emeralds starter RHP Mauricio Tabachnik after just one inning of work as the C's scored five runs on eight hits to jump out to a 5-2 lead through two innings.

The Canadians continued to apply pressure to the Emeralds pitching staff as Vancouver would rally with four more runs in the top of the 6th inning with DH Max Stassi grabbing a pair of RBI with a single to right field that extended the Vancouver lead to 9-2.

The top of the 8th inning may have been bittersweet for Canadians Manager Rick Magnante as Vancouver scored three runs without having to swing a bat. Eugene RHP Alessio Angelucci walked in three straight runs with the bases loaded to help the Canadians build a 12-4 lead. Angelucci played for Magnante as a member of the South African Baseball Union at this year's World Baseball Classic.
