
Crushers Fall Flat in Game Two

AVON, OHIO. - The Lake Erie Crushers, presented by Mercy, were unable to slow down the Joliet offense on Wednesday night as they dropped game two by the score of 12-5.
Both starting pitchers Micah Beyer (1-2) and Liam O'Sullivan (9-4) got off to fast starts early but the offenses got going in the third inning.
Joliet scored twice in the third inning to take an early lead. The Crushers scored a run in the bottom of the third when Bryan DeLaRosa singled home Dalton Wheat.
The Slammers scored a run in the fourth but Lake Erie scored twice in the bottom half of the inning. A solo home run by Cody Lenahan and a sacrifice fly by DeLaRosa tied the game at three.
The wheels came off in the fifth inning when Joliet scored six times on five hits. Zardon hit his second home run of the series, a three-run shot extending the lead. By the time the inning was over, Joliet led 9-3.
Beyer went only four innings and allowed a season-high nine runs on 11 hits.
Lake Erie got a run back in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Terry McClure but Joliet scored again in the sixth to make it 10-4.
The final Crushers ran came on a solo home run by DeLaRosa in the sixth. That was his fourth home run of the season. DeLaRosa finished with three RBIs in the game.
Joliet would score two more runs late including another home run from Zardon to cap their 18 hit performance.
Lake Erie (42-38) drops four games back of Joliet in the standings. Joliet goes to 46-34 with the win.
Game three is tomorrow night at 7:05 PM. Justin Sinibaldi (1-3) will face Daren Osby (5-2) in the series finale.
