Lake Erie Crushers News Release
AVON, Ohio - The Lake Erie Crushers were held to just four hits on Saturday night at Mercy Health Stadium, as they fell to the Washington Wild Things, 1-0 for the second night in a row.
The loss for the Crushers (34-42) marks the third time in their last five games that they've been defeated 1-0 by the Wild Things (41-35).
Much like the night before, the Crushers just had a very hard time hitting safely. They came away with four singles on Saturday night, and had just one runner in scoring position.
The pitching on both sides was very good once again. Paul Hall Jr. (2-7) worked his way out of trouble several times on Saturday night and turned in a very good start. He allowed just a run on 10 hits while striking out eight batters and induced a pair of double plays as well.
Unfortunately for Hall and the Crushers, Alex Boshers (2-2) was jut a bit better, as he worked six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and struck out four batters.
The Wild Things scored the game's only run in the top of the sixth inning, when Scotty Dubrule hit a solo homer to right to start the inning. It was his first of the season.
Boshers picked up the win for Washington while Hall Jr. suffered the hard luck loss. Zach Strecker (17) tossed a perfect ninth inning to grab the save. Aaron Glickstein tossed two scoreless innings in relief for the Crushers, and he's retired all nine batters he's faced in the series.
Zach Racusin led the way for the Crushers offensively, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles while Shawon Dunston Jr. and Eric Callahan hit safely as well. The Crushers have just six hits over the last two nights, and none for extra bases.
Lake Erie and Washington will finish their three game series at Mercy Health Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The first pitch is scheduled for 2:05 PM.
