Avon, OH - The Lake Erie Crushers started their offensive onslaught on Midwest early on and would not let up as they went on to crush the Sliders 10-1 in the series opener on Thursday night at All Pro Freight Stadium.

The Crushers jumped ahead of the Sliders 2-0 in the first inning on an error by Midwest's shortstop Roberto Mena that scored Jodam Rivera. Arden McWilliams added a bases-loaded walk to score Drew Saylor.

Lake Erie would put the game away in the fourth inning with a six-run outburst. Andrew Davis plated two on an RBI single, McWilliams also hit a two-run single, and Wayne Bond added an RBI single along with an error on Midwest that gave the Crushers a commanding 8-0 lead.

Paul Fagan had another tremendous outing on the mound for Lake Erie, as he went six innings, allowing just a run on six hits to improve to 4-1 on the season. "Paul has turned into all the definitions of a big game pitcher," said Crusher manager John Massarelli. "Guys have confidence when he's on the mound and that's important." "Shannon Sprouse worked the final three innings and was awarded a save.

The Crushers closed out the scoring in the eighth inning with two more runs. Andrew Davis hit a ground rule double to bring home Levi Cheshire and Luke Hetherington followed with an RBI single. Davis finished the game a perfect 4-for-4 with 3 RBI

The homestand continues Friday night for the Crushers as they take on the Sliders once again. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
