AVON, Ohio - Brian Erie's RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the eleventh inning scored the game winning run in Tuesday night's contest at All Pro Freight Stadium as the Crushers won their seventh game in a row, defeating the Florence Freedom, 5-4.

For the Crushers, (37-35) the seven game winning streak is their longest of the season, and the 11-inning victory improved their record to 2-3 in games with extra frames, while the loss for Florence (30-42) snapped their three game winning streak.

The Crushers scored first in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jereme Milons began the inning with a double and moved to third on Patrick Norris's bunt base hit. Jason Taylor smashed a double down the left field line, which scored Milons, but Norris was thrown out at home plate on the play.

Florence then scored twice in the top of the fourth inning to take the lead. Cole Miles tied the game with an RBI single, and Junior Arrojo scored on a wild pitch to give Florence a 2-1 lead.

The Crushers caught a break in the sixth inning, on the first of several Florence miscues. The bases were loaded with one out, when Chris Luick hit a ground ball to second, which could have been a double play ball, but it was booted by Kevin Haas, allowing Milons to score. Kellen Kulbacki was hit by a pitch moments later to bring in the go ahead run.

The Freedom came back and took the lead again in the top of the seventh inning. Juan Valdes's one out base hit was followed by Chris Curley's double, before Willie Holmes and Stephen Shults went back-to-back with run scoring singles to give Florence a 4-3 lead.

Andrew Davis walked with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning, and scored the tying run on another Florence error. Davis was at first with two outs when Kulbacki hit a fly ball to left field, which was dropped by Cole Miles, allowing Davis to score.

Chris Luick walked on five pitches to begin the bottom of the eleventh inning. After Brandon Mathes (0-1) retired the next two batters, Luick stole second base, and he reached third on an errant throw from catcher Jeff Dunbar. Erie's game winning base hit came moments later to score Luick.

Paul Daniels (5-1) pitched a scoreless eleventh inning to get the victory, while Brandon Mathes (0-1) allowed a run on a hit over an inning and two-thirds, and was tagged with the loss. The Freedom used six pitchers on the night, while the Crushers went through five.

Norris, Davis and Robby Kuzdale paced the Crushers with two hits apiece. Milons scored two more times on the night, and has now scored seven times over the first four games of the home stand.

The Crushers are now only a half behind the Traverse City Beach Bums for the final playoff spot in the Frontier League's Eastern Division.

The Crushers will continue their three game series against the Florence Freedom at All Pro Freight Stadium on Wednesday night. Left hander Paul Fagan (5-9, 4.29) will start for the Crushers and the Freedom will counter with right hander Andy Clark (9-3, 3.69). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
