River City Rascals News Release
Crestwood, Ill. - The Rascals offense was held to just six hits and two runs by former SLU Billiken Bryant Cotton as Windy City took game one of the series by a final of 8-2.
River City (53-19) did not record their first hit until the fifth inning trailed 5-0 before recordingin the as the Bolts (37-36) scored five runs on six hits in the first two innings.
The Rascals pushed across their first run in the sixth on a single from Stephen Holdren who was the only player to register a multi-hit game finishing 2-for-3.
Windy City added three runs in the sixth, chasing starter Zach Robertson (6-3) after walking the first two to begin the frame.
Rookie Kenny Arnerich made his professional debut for the Rascals and Tony Marsala was effective in his 2011 River City debut, strikeing out two of the three batters he faced in the eighth.
The Rascals magic number to clinch a playoff spot remains at five.
Game two of the series is set for Wednesday night at 7:05 as the Rascals send their ace Josh Lowey (7-2, 2.47) to the mound against Guido Fonseca (2-9, 4.95).
