March 20, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Syracuse Crunch News Release
Syracuse, NY - The Washington Capitals and Verizon Center will host the second Washington AHL Showcase Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at 5 p.m., between the Syracuse Crunch and the Hershey Bears. The game date is subject to the AHL and NHL scheduling process.
This year's event will mark the second-consecutive season in which the Verizon Center has hosted the Washington AHL Showcase. The AHL Showcase will feature the Syracuse Crunch as the home team against the Washington Capitals' American Hockey League affiliate, the Hershey Bears.
"We are extremely excited to participate in the Washington AHL Showcase," said Crunch Owner Howard Dolgon. "It's a great opportunity to showcase our franchise to a National Hockey League audience."
Syracuse, in the midst of its first season of affiliation with Tampa Bay, currently leads the AHL's Eastern Conference. In addition, the Crunch has the fifth-longest tenure of any active AHL team and will be marking their 20th anniversary next season. Hershey has qualified for the playoffs each of the last seven years and won the Calder Cup in back-to-back seasons as the champions of the AHL in 2009 and 2010 as well as in 2006. Hershey has reached the Calder Cup final in four of seven seasons it has been affiliated with Washington.
Syracuse Crunch season ticket holders will have the option of a ticket, per seat, to attend the Washington AHL Showcase or a ticket voucher, per seat, good for any Syracuse Crunch home game during the 2013-14 season. As a courtesy to all Crunch fans attending the game the Crunch will be setting up special luxury bus trips. More details to follow.
Single tickets for the Washington AHL Showcase will go on sale this summer.
