Crosscutters Snap Spikes Win Streak at Nine

The Williamsport Crosscutters beat the State College Spikes 3-1 Thursday evening, ending the Spikes nine game winning streak and reclaiming a share of first place in the Pinckney Division.

Drew Naylor (4-0) allowed one run over seven innings while striking out 11 Spikes to beat State College for the second time this season. Naylor leads the New York-Penn League with his four victories and has amassed a league-high 32 strikeouts. The Cutters posted runs in the first, fifth, and sixth innings to back Naylor.

Freddy Galvis went three for four with a run batted in, a run scored, and three stolen bases to lead Williamsport. Michael Taylor and Mike Durant drove in the other runs for the Crosscutters, who took a three games to two advantage in the 2007 Sawbuck Series. Matt German pitched a perfect ninth for his fifth save.

Moises Robles (1-3) took the loss for State College, their first since June 25th. Williamsport will look to win their sixth series in six tries this season tomorrow evening at State College at 7:05 p.m.
