Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

Zach Green homered to left in the eighth to tie the game, but the Spikes pulled away in the 11th inning as Lino Martinez gave up four runs and the Crosscutters fall to State College 7-3 in extra innings.

Martinez allowed only one base runner in the ninth and retired the Spikes in order in the tenth. In the eleventh, Martinez gave up a lead-off walk to Alex de Leon, who was removed for pinch runner Steven Ramos. Ramos went from first to third on a sacrifice ground out by Luke Voit after the Cutters had no one cover third base.

Following a Jimmy Bosco walk, Cesar Valera singled to center field to score Ramos, but it didn't get better for Williamsport. Bruce Caldwell hit a sacrifice fly to center field and Bosco went to third. David Washington hit a double to center field to score Bosco and Valera.

Martinez threw a wild pitch to advance Washington to third and Ronald Castillo singled to left to score Washington.

Drew Anderson made his debut for the Crosscutters, but was pulled in the fifth after leaving the bases open.

Williamsport scored their first run of the game in the first thanks in part to an RBI double by Zach Green. Green also provided another RBI double in the third and hit a solo home run in the eighth.

The Crosscutters drop to 1-1 and play the rubber matchup of the Sawbuck series Wednesday at State College at 7:05 P.M.
