-SPIKES HIT THE ROAD TO FACE CROSSCUTTERS: The State College Spikes hit the field for the first time on the road in 2013 this evening as they take on the Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies) in a SawBuck Series matchup at Historic Bowman Field. Tonight's game will be the home opener for the Crosscutters. The Spikes last won a season series against Williamsport outright in 2006, when they took eight of 12 meetings from the ‘Cutters. The all-time series currently stands at 47-38, Williamsport, with the Crosscutters taking 26 of 42 meetings at Historic Bowman Field.

-LAST NIGHT: The State College Spikes dropped a 4-2 decision on the field to the Williamsport Crosscutters on Monday Night, but celebrated reaching the one million-fan milestone at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park as part of the Opening Night festivities. State College battled back from an early 3-0 deficit to get within a run, but Williamsport foiled two late comeback attempts by the Spikes to hold on for the win. Alex De Leon collected his first professional base hit in the fifth inning, singling to right field. Trevor Martin was the lone State College player with multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.

-PERRY MAKES PRO DEBUT ON THE MOUND FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Chris Perry, the 17th-round draft choice of the Cardinals in 2012, makes his first professional pitching appearance as he starts for the State College tonight. The 22-year-old was selected out of Methodist College in North Carolina last year, but did not see any action in the pro ranks due to a lower back injury. Perry went 6-2 with a 2.14 ERA and recorded a team-high 132 strikeouts over 15 appearances (14 starts) at Methodist in 2012.

-CROSSCUTTERS MAKE MOUND CALL FOR ANDERSON: Right-hander Drew Anderson will head to the bump for Williamsport tonight. Anderson was taken by the Phillies in the 21st round of the 2012 MLB Draft out of Galena High School in Nevada. The 19-year-old went 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA in eight appearances, two of them starts, for the Gulf Coast League Phillies last year. Anderson recorded 16 strikeouts and 10 walks in 22 2/3 innings.

-SPIKES HONOR ONE MILLIONTH FAN: Monday night, the State College Spikes kicked off the Year of the Millionth Fan in grand style by honoring the one-millionth fan in team history. After whittling down the Opening Night crowd of 5,155 throughout the night, William Kenyon of State College emerged as the Spikes' Millionth Fan in a post-game ceremony. William won a one-of-a-kind Spikes prize package, including Spikes season tickets for life, his own Spikes jersey, the chance to "own the ballpark" for a day, and fantastic Spikes memorabilia.

-SPIKE MARKS: The Spikes went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position last night...Tonight is the first time since 2009 that the Crosscutters' home opener follows the Spikes'...David Washington was tied for 3rd in the NYPL in home runs last year with nine...Mark DeJohn, the Spikes' manager in the inaugural season of 2006, is with the team for the opening series of the year in his role as Cardinals' minor league field coordinator
