Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
The Williamsport Crosscutters improved to 2-6 versus the Jamestown Jammers this season after a commanding 5-1 victory at Historic Bowman Field on Saturday night.
The Cutters jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first, collecting three hits and two walks off Jammers starter Helpi Reyes. Geancarlo Mendez's two-run triple highlighted the attack.
That 4-0 score would hold until the bottom of the seventh inning, when Pete Lavin's RBI triple to right-center plated Francisco Diaz to make it 5-0.
Jamestown finally notched a run in the ninth, as Josh Adams' RBI double made it a 5-1 game.
Cutters starter Adam Morgan earned his second win of the season after firing five shutout innings in his ninth start. He allowed just four hits and struck out four. Austin Brough hurled three scoreless frames of relief to lower his season ERA to 0.61. Lavin finished 3 for 4 and Mendez went 2 for 4 with two RBIs to lead the offense.
The Cutters will now welcome in Jamestown for three games from August 20-22, with Saturday's matchup starting at 7:05pm. Every game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com
