NORWICH, CT - With their 4-3 victory over the Aberdeen IronBirds Saturday night, the Connecticut Tigers are back to .500 for the first time since July 21st. Many players played a major role in the victory tonight.

Outfielder Tyler Collins went 2-4 and drove in one his teammates as part of a 3-run, 5 hit home half of the 3rd inning. It was during this at turn at bat when Connecticut knocked Aberdeen starting pitcher Jose Mota out of the game.

Matt Perry has done a tremendous job replacing injured Tigers' third baseman Jason King. Perry has played strong defensively at the "hot corner" and is a steady contributor in Andrew Graham's lineup. Tonight the 2009 Patriot League Player of the year while at Holy Cross went 2-4 and scored a run.

The area that has been the foundation of this four game winning streak, the Tigers longest of the season, has been starting pitching. Tonight it was Matt Crouse's turn to shine. The left hander scattered eight hits over 6 1/3 innings, striking out four. Tiring in the seventh, Crouse gave up two runs on four straight hits by Aberdeen to end his night.

Melvin Mercedes and Fernando Celis pitched in relief of Crouse, tonight's winning pitcher, with Mercedes picking up his second save of the season.

New London native Ryan Zrenda batted seventh as the designated hitter for Aberdeen. The Brown product had a RBI single in front of a large contingent of supporters in the stands.

The Tigers and IronBirds play again tomorrow afternoon at Dodd Stadium. First pitch of the middle game of the three game series is scheduled for 1:00 PM. Fans are invited to bring their dogs to the game as part of the Bark in the Park promotion.
