Williamsport Crosscutters News Release

The Williamsport Crosscutters beat the Batavia Muckdogs 5-2 Thursday evening. The Cutters took a 4-0 lead in the home half of the second when Phillip Cuevas singled home Matt Rizzotti and Michael Taylor. Cuevas and Caleb Mangum scored on a double by Dominic Brown, his first of two hits that extended his hitting streak to 12 games. Batavia got a pair of those runs back in the top of the third off Crosscutter starter Tyson Brummett. From that point on, however, Brummett took control. The Cutters right-hander allowed just one hit in after the third while striking out five en route to his fifth victory of the season. Chris Kissock closed out the game with two nearly perfect innings for his second save. Williamsport's final run came in the sixth inning when Mike Durant hit his fifth home run of the season, a 415 foot drive to straightaway centerfield, the longest home run of the season at Historic Bowman Field. The Cutters host the Muckdogs again Friday evening in the final game of the 2007 season. Joe Savery, the Phillies first round draft choice this year, will take the hill for Williamsport at 7:05 p.m.
