Greenville Drive News Release
Greenville, SC - The Hickory Crawdads offense got going early and didn't let up on Monday night at Fluor Field, as they used four multi-run inning to defeat the Greenville Drive 11-2.
Five runs over the first two innings proved to be more than enough for the Crawdads (34-23, 64-61). Tyreque Reed got his big night started with a three-run homer around the right field pole in the top of the first off Angel Padron (5-6), and a two-run second was headlined by a Bubba Thompson RBI single.
The Drive (32-25, 57-69) got on the board in the bottom of the fifth when Everlouis Lozada lifted a two-run homer to left-center field. The home run was his first of the season.
Those were the only runs against Hickory starter Tyler Phillips (10-5), who allowed just three hits over seven innings while striking out seven.
The Crawdads got those runs right back in the sixth on RBI hits by Tyler Ratliff and Thompson. They struck for four more in the eighth on an RBI double by Kole Enright, an RBI single by Ratliff and a two-run single from Reed, who finished the night 4-5 with five RBI.
Devon Fisher threw two scoreless innings of relief for the Drive with three strikeouts.
The homestand wraps up on Tuesday night at Fluor Field at 7:05. The Drive will send left-hander Enmanuel De Jesus (7-4, 3.39) to the mound as they go for a sweep of the four-game series, and the Crawdads will start right-hander Reid Anderson (7-6, 3.11).
