HICKORY, N.C. - The Hickory Crawdads scored a season-high 11 runs and launched a season-high three home runs on Monday night en route to an 11-2 win against the Savannah Sand Gnats at Historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Georgia before 1,623 fans.

Hickory (9-10) got the ball rolling early against Savannah starter RHP Brandon Moore (0-1, 2.87) when LF Cristian Santana hit the 'Dad's first homer of the night to left with just-activated C Vinny DiFazio on base for a 2-0 lead.

The Crawdads added four more runs in the third. CF Cody Podraza scored from third when SS Leury Garcia reached on an error (one of six the Sand Gnats would commit). Garcia then came in to score on an RBI single by RF Jared Prince. The inning was capped off by DiFazio's two-run home run to left making the score 6-0.

The 'Dads still were not done scoring. They tacked on another two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. 3B Ed Koncel hit the third homer of the night for Hickory, blasting an offering from LHP Lance Hoge deep to left-center in the fourth.

All ten players that came to bat for the Crawdads reached base at least once and six of those batters had two or more hits in the ballgame. 1B Mike Ortiz tied the season-lead for hits in a game with four, also held by RF Jared Prince.

The Sand Gnats (12-7) finally got on the board in the fifth against 'Dads starter RHP Matt Thompson (1-0, 3.15 ERA) when LF Juan Lagares hit a double to left, scoring DH Alex Gregory from second. Savannah added another run in the eighth on a solo homer by 1B Jeff Flagg to left against LHP Chad Bell, to make it a 10-2 game.

The Crawdads scored an insurance run in the top of the ninth to round out the scoring total at 11-2.

Thompson, who had his best outing of the season, picked up the win for Hickory, going six innings while giving up one run (earned) on seven hits and a walk with seven strikeouts. Moore received the loss for Savannah, allowing six runs (four earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out five in three innings.
