Hickory Crawdads News Release

Hickory, NC - The 'Dads completed the sweep of the Charleston RiverDogs on Wednesday afternoon with a 2-1 win.

The RiverDogs scored a run off 'Dads starter AJ Alexy in the third to take a 1-0 lead. Alexy finished the afternoon with five innings, four hits allowed, one walk, seven strikeouts, and giving up one earned run.

Back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the fifth by Kole Enright and Bubba Thompson tied the game at one.

The 'Dads pulled ahead in the bottom of the seventh with a run. Sam Huff and Miguel Aparicio led off the inning with consecutive singles. Kole Enright singled to right and advanced to second as the RiverDogs threw the ball back into the infield. Aparicio was stranded on the basepaths between Huff on third and Enright on second. As Enright dashed back to first and Aparicio ran to avoid a tag, Huff was able to score to give the 'Dads a 2-1 lead.

Joe Barlow came in to close the game in the eighth and the ninth. He pitched two scoreless innings to earn his fourth save.

The Crawdads will return to the Frans on Tuesday for a 7 day homestand. The homestand will include the Battle of the Bags cornhole tournament on Thursday, Superhero night and fireworks on Friday, and '90s night and an App State hat giveaway on Saturday.
