CHARLESTON, SC - The Hickory Crawdads extended their winning streak to five games with a 9-2 runaway victory against the Charleston RiverDogs, before 4,732 fans at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park in Charleston on Friday night. The 'Dads will look to complete the series sweep Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

With the game tied at one entering the fourth inning, the Crawdads (13-10) began their offensive outburst. After walking CF Miguel Velazquez and 3B Matt West, RiverDogs starter RHP Sean Black (1-2, 6.66 ERA) gave up a two-run double to RF Ed Koncel to push Hickory in front, 3-1. 1B Mike Ortiz followed with a single up the middle to score Koncel from second, extending the lead to three runs.

Hickory tacked on two more runs in the fifth. With DH Cody Podraza on second and Velazquez on first, the 'Dads went for a double steal. Charleston reliever RHP Michael Solbach attempted to throw out Podraza at third, but the throw would up in left field and was bobbled by LF Deangelo Mack, allowing Podraza to score with Velazquez moving to third. Later in the inning, Velazquez raced home on a wild pitch by Solbach to make it a 6-1 'Dads lead.

The RiverDogs (10-13) scored in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI groundout by SS Jimmy Paredes to cut the lead to four, but the Crawdads matched that run in the seventh on an RBI double by LF Cristian Santana and pushed across two more in the eighth to round out the scoring at 9-2.

'Dads starter RHP Wilmer Font (3-0, 3.97 ERA) picked up the win, giving up two runs (both earned) on six hits and three walks, while striking out four in five innings of work. RHP Trevor Hurley and RHP Kyle Ocampo combined for four scoreless innings of relief following Font, allowing just two hits apiece.

Black was saddled with the loss for Charleston, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits and three walks.
