Behind six strong innings by starter Mark Cohoon, the Savannah Sand Gnats defeated the Lexington Legends 7-2 Friday night in Savannah. The Sand Gnats have now taken the first three games of the four-game series. Cohoon (4-0) pitched six and one-third innings, his longest outing of the year, and allowed six hits and two runs while walking one and striking out three.

Lexington's J.D. Martinez, who entered the game batting .359, third in the South Atlantic League, had a single and a triple.

Lexington starter Robby Donovan (1-3) was the losing pitcher. He was ejected from the game in the fourth inning after an argument over ball-and-strike calls with plate umpire Jonathan Bailey.

The series concludes Saturday night with a 6:05 p.m. game. The Legends are off Sunday, and will play Kannapolis Monday night at 7:05 p.m. at Applebee's Park to begin an eight-game homestand.
