KANNAPOLIS, NC - Lefty Joseph Serafin dominated the BlueClaws for seven innings Friday night, and helped bring an end to Lakewood's four-game winning streak, 7-3.

Serafin (3-2) allowed two runs on five hits and struck out eight BlueClaws while walking just two. He retired the last seven batters he faced.

On a night when Serafin was dominant, BlueClaws starter Matt Way (0-3) struggled. Way was tagged for five runs on eight hits after just 4.2 innings and saw his ERA jump to 6.84.

Two of Lakewood's three runs came on solo shots by Darin Ruf (2) and Leandro Castro (1). Another run scored on a Ruf double play ground out in the eighth.

The BlueClaws had a 2-1 lead going into the bottom half of the fifth inning, but Kannapolis responded with six unanswered runs to take control of the game.

Left fielder Anthony Hewitt left the game in the bottom of the sixth after he fell chasing down a double. He limped off the field under his own power and was replaced in the lineup by Stephen Batts.

Saturday night at 7:05 RHP Brody Colvin (1-3 11.15) will make his fifth start of the season for the BlueClaws. Colvin is coming off his first professional win in his last start Monday at Greensboro. He will be opposed by RHP Terry Doyle (2-1 1.08).
