Coyotes Recall Jones From San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO - The Phoenix Coyotes recalled defenseman Matt Jones on Tuesday from the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top minor league affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Jones, 23, earns his third call-up to the Coyotes this season. In 23 games with the Coyotes this season, the six-foot, 215-pound blueliner has registered three points (goal, two assists) and 31 penalty minutes (PIM). The Coyotes' third-round selection (80th overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft scored his first career NHL goal versus the New York Rangers on Oct. 28.

The Downers Grove, Illinois native has collected two assists and 23 penalty minutes in 24 games with the Rampage this season. Jones, a second-year pro, has scored 15 points (two goals, 13 assists) and 69 PIM in 83 career AHL games.
