
Lowell picks up points with overtime thrillers

Rewind:
Friday, Monarchs 4 vs. DEVILS 3, OT
Noah Clarke scored with just 35 seconds left in overtime to lift the visiting Manchester Monarchs to a 4-3 overtime win at Tsongas Arena. Chris Minard sent the game into the extra session for the Devils, scoring his team-leading 19th of the season with just 20 seconds left in regulation. Jason Ryznar and David Clarkson both scored for the Devils as well.
Saturday, DEVILS 5 vs. Bears 4, OT
Dan McGillis scored on the power play in overtime and Barry Tallackson had 2g-1a to lead the Devils to a 5-4 win over the Hershey Bears, the second ranked team in the Eastern Conference. Petr Vrana scored on a penalty shot and added an assist, while Ryan Murphy also potted 1g-1a. Frank Doyle made 36 saves between the pipes for the victory.
In the standings
The Devils and Portland Pirates maintained pace, both sitting with 49 points, tied for fifth in the Atlantic Division. They trail the Worcester Sharks by six points in the standings for the fourth and final playoff spot in the division.
Roster Changes
Today the New Jersey Devils recalled RW Cam Janssen from Lowell, and assigned C Rod Pelley. Pelley made his NHL debut last Thursday night and appeared in two games for New Jersey (0g-0a-0pts). In 39 AHL games, the rookie out of Ohio State has 8g-9a-17pts. Janssen has skated in nine games during two assignments to Lowell, with 0g-1a-1pt and 29 penalty minutes.
Coming Up
The Devils host the Springfield Falcons on Wednesday night before heading out on a five-game road swing. Doors open at 6:05 p.m. and the puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Lowell hits the road for three games this weekend, with Manchester on Friday (7:05 p.m.), the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday (7:00 p.m.) and the Providence Bruins on Sunday (4:05 p.m.).

Around the Horns
Lowell has taken points in four straight games (3-0-1-0) for the first time since November 10 "" 19, when they picked up points in six straight (5-0-1-0).
The Devils have had three straight overtime games, after having just three overtime games in their previous 30 matches.
D Dan McGillis has two overtime goals this season for Lowell. McGillis leads the Devils in goals (9) and points (18) on the power play this season. He leads all AHL defensemen in power play goals, and is fourth in total goals among defensemen.
C Petr Vrana scored the first penalty shot goal in Devils history on Saturday night. It was the second penalty shot of the season for Lowell, with Ryan Murphy missing on December 27th against Manchester.
Vrana has 3g-3a-6pts in his last five games, however, he has missed time lately, playing in just three of the Devils last seven outings. G Frank Doyle is fifth in the AHL in minutes played (1,876).
