WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Edmonton Oilers have assigned left winger Patrick Thoresen to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, it was announced on Tuesday. Additionally the Penguins have released defenseman Ryan Glenn from his professional tryout contract.

The fifth Norwegian to play in the NHL, Thoresen, has scored 2-8-10 with 37 penalty mintues in 43 games with the Oilers. He is ranked among NHL rookies in points (24th), assists (17th) and game-winning goals (14th).

This is Thoresen's second assignment to the Penguins this season, as he was previously assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on January 2. He played two games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording a goal and four assists and a plus-3 rating. He was recalled by Edmonton on January 8.

Glenn was signed to a PTO on December 12, and recorded three assists and a minus-1 rating in 18 games with the Penguins.
