
Coyotes Re-Assign Murley To Rampage, Recall Zigomanis

SAN ANTONIO (February 14, 2008) - The Phoenix Coyotes today re-assigned left wing Matt Murley to the San Antonio Rampage, the Coyotes' top affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL), and recalled center Mike Zigomanis.
Murley, 28, returns to the Rampage with a team-leading 27 assists and 38 points through 48 games after recording one assist in three games for the Coyotes this season.
The Troy, New York native signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 20, 2007. He appeared in 61 games for Albany (AHL) last season, collecting 55 points (23 goals, 32 assists) and 18 PIM to rank second on the team in both points and assists.
In 62 career NHL games with Pittsburgh and Phoenix, he has recorded nine points (2g, 7a) and 38 PIM. He has registered 228 points (82g, 146a) and 207 PIM in 325 career AHL games with Wilkes-Barre, Albany and San Antonio. In 2004, he scored two goals and added in assist for PlanetUSA in the AHL All-Star Game. The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Murley was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the second round (51st overall) of the 1999 Entry Draft.
Murley played his collegiate hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where he graduated as the school's 11th all-time leading scorer with 74-101-175 in 137 career games.
The 27-year-old Zigomanis has recorded three points (1g, 2a) and two penalty minutes (PIM) in six games with San Antonio. He has also collected three points (2g, 1a) and six PIM in 32 games with the Coyotes this season.
In 299 career AHL contests, Zigomanis has compiled 235 points (94 goals, 141 assists) over parts of six seasons with Lowell, Peoria and San Antonio. He was named MVP of the 2004 AHL All-Star Classic while with Lowell, where he led the Lock Monsters in scoring (52 points) and assists (35) during the 2003-04 season.
Originally drafted by Carolina in the second round (46th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, the Toronto, Ontario native signed with Phoenix as a free agent on July 21, 2006. Last year, in his first season with the Coyotes, he set career-highs in goals (14), assists (9), points (23), games played (75), PIM (46) and shots (142). The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Zigomanis has 33 points (19g, 14a) and 58 PIM in 166 career NHL games with Carolina, St. Louis and Phoenix.
