Coyotes' Offense Struggles in Game 1

EDINBURG, TX- The Edinburg Coyotes were unable to establish an offensive rhythm during Game 1 of their three-game series against the San Angelo Colts falling 8-2 Monday night at Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

The pitching woes continued for the Coyotes as Miguel Martinez made his first start for the team and allowed five runs on six hits in five innings of play. Colts starting pitcher Logan Williamson picked up his second victory of the season while Martinez picked his first loss. It didn't take long for the Colts to strike first as Tyrone Pendergrass hit a lead-off homer to start the first inning. Two batters later, Brian Frichter hit a double to center field and was brought in to score on a single from Benny Craig.

The Colts put up another run in the next inning after Pendergrass hit an RBI single to center field to bring in Adam Miller from second to give them a 3-0 lead.

The Colts struck again in the third inning after Andres Rodriguez hit a two-run homer over the left field wall to score Frichter from first. Coyotes put up a run of their own in the bottom of the fourth when MayoBanex Santana double to center field to bring in Logan Wood from third.

The Colts scored another run in the fifth after Jason Crosland came into score on a fielder's choice by Miller to stretch the lead to five. The Colts began to pull away with the lead when they scored two more runs on one hit in the seventh inning for a seven run lead. Coyotes were able to put another run in the bottom of the seventh after Logan Wood scored on ground out by Amado German. The Coyotes will take on the Colts in Game 2 tomorrow night at 7:05. It is Echo Hotel "Buyout Night" so there will be free admission for everyone.
