San Angelo Colts News Release

EDINBURG, Texas - The San Angelo Colts announced today that they have acquired right-handed pitcher Miliade Venas in a trade with the Edinburg Coyotes for future considerations.

The trade took place only a few hours before the two teams battled in the series opener of a three-game set in Edinburg, which the Colts won 8-2. Venas already made his San Angelo debut, pitching a scoreless ninth inning against his former mates to seal the Colts' victory.

In three appearances with the Coyotes, two of which were starts, Venas was 0-1 with a 10.80 ERA. The 25-year-old is in his second professional season. He played for Missoula (Rookie) in 2005 after he was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Venas, 6-foot-1 and 175 pounds, was born in Los Jovillos in the Dominican Republic, but now resides in Tucson, Arizona.

The Colts continue this three-game series in Edinburg with game two against the Coyotes at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colts then return to Foster Field on Sunday, June 8 to begin a nine-game homestand. The game that day, which begins at 5:05 p.m., will feature Weiner Dog Races, sponsored by Yuppie Puppy.

Advertising, ticket, and group information are available by calling the box office at (325) 942-6587. All Colts games are broadcast live on "Cool 100" - KCLL 100.1 FM and online at the Colts' official website, www.sanangelocolts.com, which is updated daily with the latest team news.
