
Coyotes Acquire Martin Erat & John Mitchell from Washington

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired forwards Martin Erat (EE-rat) and John Mitchell from the Washington Capitals in exchange for defenseman Rostislav Klesla, forward Chris Brown and a fourth round draft choice in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
The 32-year-old Erat has registered 1-23-24 and 22 penalty minutes (PIM) in 53 games with the Capitals this season. The 6-foot, 196-pound native of Trebic, Czech Republic has recorded 165-343-508 and 452 PIM in 785 career NHL games with the Nashville Predators and the Capitals. Erat was selected by Nashville in the seventh round (191st overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
The Coyotes also acquired Mitchell who has posted 3-3-6 and 18 PIM in 20 games with Hershey (AHL) this season. The 27-year-old native of Neenah, Wis., recorded a career-high 10 goals last season with Norfolk (AHL).
In 25 games with the Coyotes this season, Klesla collected 1-3-4 and 24 PIM. Brown appeared in six games with Phoenix in 2013-14, totaling 17 PIM.
