Kalamazoo Wings News Release

For the fifth time this season, the Kalamazoo Wings will face-off against the Elmira Jackals. This season, Kalamazoo is 4-1-0 against Elmira; however, the Jackals defeated the K-Wings 5-3 in the team's last encounter January 27th at Wings Stadium. After this evening, the conference foes will square off three more times, with the next two battles occurring at the First Arena in Elmira, New York in March.

A tradition continues tonight, as the K-Wings host their 7th Annual Borgess Pink Ice Game presented by WKFR and WOTV. Kalamazoo is 3-3-0 on the Pink Ice and has won three straight games on the "hearted" surface. Tonight also closes out a three-game homestand for the K-Wings, who are 1-1-0 during the stretch.

For the third-time this season, Elmira will have a new head coach behind the bench to face Kalamazoo, as Paul Gillis replaced Robbie Nichols last week due to health issues. The Jackals are 1-0-0 against the K-Wings on colored ice, as they won 3-2 during last season's 25th Annual World Famous Fifth-Third Bank Green Ice Game.

Pretty in Pink

A tradition continues tonight, as the K-Wings host the Elmira Jackals during the 7th Annual Borgess Pink Ice Game presented by WKFR and WOTV. Kalamazoo is 3-3-0 all-time on Pink Ice and is riding a three-game winning streak.

Player Movement

Earlier today, the K-Wings made a trade with the Flint Generals for defenseman Jeff Cameron. In return, the Generals will receive forward. Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn.

Winning the Close Ones

Kalamazoo has found a way to win close games this season. The K-Wings are 10-4-5 in games decided by a single goal.

Chasing a Record

Forward Kory Karlander is nearing a K-Wings record. With 29 power-play goals in his K-Wings UHL career, Karlander needs just two more man advantage goals to tie the record currently held by Randy Holmes (31), who played for Kalamazoo from 1999-2002. Karlander is also currently on a four-game point streak.
