Flint Generals News Release

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League have made a trade with the Kalamazoo Wings. The Generals acquire rookie forward Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn in exchange for defenseman Jeff Cameron.

Versteeg-Lytwyn (verse-TEEG lit-WIN) is in his first season of professional hockey after four years of junior hockey. Most of his junior career was spent with the Guelph Storm where he was part of an OHL Championship in 2003-04. Last season was split between the Sarnia Sting and the Sudbury Wolves. The 20-year-old native of Sharon, ONT has played 46 games for the Wings this season and has 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists.

In exchange for Versteeg-Lytwyn, the Generals have sent Cameron to Kalamazoo. Cameron was acquired by the Generals in a trade with Bloomington on January 2. Cameron had five points in nine games with the Generals on three goals and two assists. All three of his goals were scored in his first game with Flint on January 19.

"The team has been one of the better in the league since the first of the year and has really solidified themselves as a playoff team." Stated General Manager Al Sims. "Mark is a high energy player and will work hard every night. He is a good character guy and will fit well with our team."

The Generals play two games at Perani Arena this weekend. The Bloomington Prairie Thunder will be in town on Friday and the Kalamazoo Wings on Saturday. Both games start at 7:30pm. Tickets for all Generals home games can be purchased at Perani Arena by calling 810-742-9422.
