Countdown to Face-Off
January 15, 2005 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Kalamazoo Wings News Release
For the first-time ever the Kalamazoo Wings and the Motor City Mechanics will face one another at Wings Stadium. This will be the third lifetime meeting between the teams, with the K-Wings winning both prior encounters this season at Wings Stadium.
The K-Wings continued their winning ways last night by defeating the Elmira Jackals by the final of 4-1. The victory extended the K-Wings overall winning streak to a season high eight games and pushed their home winning streak to a season tying two games. The K-Wings win coupled with the Danbury Trashers victory over the Flint Generals last night, means the K-Wings will start the night in second place in the Central Division. Tonight's game is also game two of a four game home stand for the K-Wings which will conclude this Wednesday versus Port Huron.
Motor City continues their six-game road trip tonight with a visit to Wings Stadium. So far on the road swing, the Mechanics are 1-0-1, with their victory occurring last night against Fort Wayne Komets. The Mechanics have added some depth up to roster by acquiring Mike Burgoyne and Jeff Doyle from the Quad City Mallards. Both players made their Mechanics debut last night against the Komets.

Big in the Third
The K-Wings have dominated the last two third periods they have played at Wings Stadium. Kalamazoo has outscored their opponents by combined 7-0 in the third period of their last two home games, which were December 31st versus Kansas City and last night against the Elmira Jackals.
Just Win Baby
The K-Wings enter the game on an eight-game winning streak. The eight-game streak is a season high for the Kalamazoo Wings. The eight-game streak is just two wins shy of the K-Wings franchise record of 10 games set last March.
Movin' On Up
Forward Yannick Carpentier is close to moving up on both the K-Wings all-time points and assists list. Entering tonight's game Carpentier needs just one more point to pass Richard Keyes for third place on the K-Wings' UHL all-time point list. Yannick is also just three assists away from tying Matt Loen (64) for third place on the K-Wings' all-time assists list.
Carpentier's On a Roll
Besides moving up the K-Wings all-time list, Carpentier has registered a point in his last four games. The K-Wings season-high for consecutive games with a point is also held by Carpentier, who had a five streak from December 3rd-11th.
