Countdown to Face-Off

Western Conference rivals will face-off tonight as the K-Wings host the Quad City Mallards at Wings Stadium. Kalamazoo enters tonight looking to narrow the gap between them and the Mallards for third place in the Western Conference. While the K-Wings do have three games in hand over the Mallards; it's Quad City that holds a seven point lead over the K-Wings for third place.

The K-Wings have two new faces in the lineup tonight, as Nick Bootland and Dan Watson are set to debut for Kalamazoo. Bootland is a prolific scorer, who already as tallied 38 points this season, which places him 14th in the UHL. Watson is a big defensemen that has played a majority of his four year career in the AHL. Both will try to help the K-Wings extend their home unbeaten streak, as Kalamazoo enters the game on an eight game home unbeaten streak.

Quad City is playing their best hockey of the season. The Mallards are flying high on a two game winning streak and are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games. Quad City is also having success on the road. The Mallards are 13-8-1 away from The MARK and have won four of their last six road games.

Comings and Goings

The K-Wings added two new players to their roster this week as Nick Bootland and Dan Watson were reassigned to the K-Wings from the Cleveland Barons (AHL). To make room on the roster the K-Wings traded forward Corey Lucas to Adirondack and waived defenseman Chad Dameworth.

Eight Isn't Enough The K-Wings will enter Wednesday's games against the Quad City Mallards trying to extend their home unbeaten streak . Kalamazoo is unbeaten at Wings Stadium in their last 8 games dating back to November 21, 2003.

10 Games and Growing

Andrew Luciuk continued his scoring success last weekend. Luciuk will carry a 10 game scoring streak into Wednesday's night game against Quad City. The ten game streak is the longest this season by any K-Wings player.

Nearing Milestones

Three K-Wings players enter the week close to reaching personal milestones. Marty Flichel needs three more assists to reach 200 for his career, Andrew Luciuk needs just two assists shy of accomplishing the same feat, and Joe Ritson needs three assists shy of 100 for his career.
