Coulee Region Pulls Away in Second, Rolls over MN Magicians, 9-3

The Coulee Region Chill scored three goals in the second period to pull away from the MN Magicians Magicians and clinch a 9-3 win.

Sean Kalbak had one goal and three assists to lead Coulee Region. Kalbak scored 6:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Coulee Region. Adam Lovick assisted on the tally.

The Chill pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 30 penalty minutes.

With 30 shots on target during the contest, Coulee Region exceeded the 25.6 shots it averages per game this year. The Chill found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Coulee Region averages 3.2 goals per contest.

Coulee Region also got points from Gordon Wells, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Brogran Rafferty, who also had one goal and two assists, Richard Zehnal, who also registered one goal and one assist, Blake Kelley, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Cam Bleck, who also had one goal and one assist, and Griff Jeszka, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Mac Jansen also scored for Coulee Region. In addition, Coulee Region received assists from John Regnart, Dunk Abbott, James McGing, and Charlie Parker, who each chipped in one.

By firing 42 shots on goal, MN Magicians exceeded the 25.7 shots it averages per game this year.

The Magicians were helped by Matt Colford, who racked up one goal. Colford scored on the power play 3:21 into the first period to make the score 1-1. MN Magicians had gotten the advantage when the Chill's Abbott was sent off for roughing. Kris McKinzie picked up the assist. MN Magicians also got a goal from Will Johnson as well. Other players who recorded assists for MN Magicians were Cody Milligan, who had one and Nicholas Kuchera, who had two.

Coulee Region's Adam Carlson stopped 39 shots out of the 42 that he faced. The Chill registered two goals on two power play opportunities. Bryan Nies made seven saves before being replaced by Atte Tolvanen, who took the loss and made 14 saves. The Magicians incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
