Cougars Take Game Two

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars (12-5) scored five runs in the second inning to power their way past the Burlington Bees (6-11) by a score of 7-5 at Elfstrom Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Bees scored a single run in the first inning against Kane County RHP Jason Adam (3-4). CF Jose Crisotomo singled (2-2) and went to second base on a single by 3B Tony Thompson (3-5). 1B Josh Whitaker (3-5) added an RBI single to left field to score Crisotomo for a 1-0 lead

The Cougars scored two runs in the first inning against Burlington RHP Nate Long (5-3). RF Alex Llanos (3-4) doubled and scored on a double by LF Brian Fletcher (1-3). 3B Cheslor Cuthbert (2-4) added an RBI single to score Fletcher for a 2-1 lead.

Burlington took a 3-2 lead on a solo home run by Crisotomo over the right field wall for a 3-2 lead.

Kane County pushed five runs across home plate in the second inning, including a grand slam home run from Cuthbert for a 7-3 lead.

Whitaker added an RBI single in the fifth inning to score Landaeta to get the Bees within three runs at 7-4. The Bees scored another run in the eighth inning to inch closer at 7-5. With DH Nino Leyja (0-2) at third base and LF Royce Consigli (1-3) at first base, CF Jose Rivero (0-4) grounded into a double play to score Leyja from third base.

The Bees finish their series with the Kane County Cougars on Monday at 6:30 p.m. RHP Josh Bowman (6-2, 3.11) gets the start for the Bees against RHP Leonel Santiago (6-6, 3.01) for the Cougars. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:10 p.m. on Newsradio 1490 KBUR and online at www.gobees.com.
