Cougars Set for Explosive End to a Memorable 15th Anniversary Season

August 24, 2005 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, IL - Currently in a chase for the wildcard, the Kane County Cougars are keeping it exciting at Elfstrom Stadium this Labor Day weekend. Beginning tomorrow, the team embarks on an eight-game road trip, landing in the Quad Cities (August 25-28) and Battle Creek, Michigan (August 29 - September 1) for two crucial four-game sets against the Swing and Devil Rays. The squad returns home to Geneva on Friday, September 2 to an action-packed four-game set against the Cedar Rapids Kernels (Class A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim).

Sparking the explosive holiday weekend, Kane County will take another fundraising event under its reign on Friday, September 2. Following the evening's 6:30 p.m. contest against the Kernels, WUSN US99 Morning Show host "Big John" Howell will shave his hair to show he cares, generating funds for the Illinois Law Enforcement Torch Run and Special Olympics. Sponsored in part by the Cougars, Kane County State's Attorney's Office, Geneva Police Department and WUSN Radio (99.5 FM, US99), Big John is set to arrive before the game with the help of the U.S. Secret Service. Collecting donations and joining fans on the concourse level for pictures and autographs throughout the game, Big John is looking for much encouragement before he will take the plunge to go hairless.

The weekend series has much in store for fans, as three of the four games will feature post-game fireworks. Great giveaways will be handed out, autographs will be signed, bases will be ran and Myron Noodleman, Skydivers and the ZOOperstars each make one final visit before the conclusion of the 2005 regular season on Monday, September 5.
