John Jaso named MWL Postseason All-Star

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. -- The Southwest Michigan Devil Rays are proud to announce that John Jaso has been named the Designated Hitter on the Midwest League's 2005 Postseason All-Star team.

Announced today by the league, Jaso is Southwest Michigan's representative on the list. Jaso was also voted to the mid-season Midwest League All-Star game in Peoria on June 21.

Jaso was hitting .307 with 102 hits, 25 doubles and 14 home runs in 92 games this season before being placed on the team's disabled list August 10. Jaso led the team in home runs and walks (42) to give him a .383 on-base percentage and a .515 slugging percentage. He scored 61 times for the Devil Rays and stole three bases as well.

Jaso is the Southwest Michigan franchise's 15th Postseason all-star since 1995. Eric Duncan was the 2004 selection at third base for the Battle Creek Yankees. The franchise record of three in one season came in 2003 when Jayson Drobiak (DH), Rudy Guillen (OF) and Jon-Mark Sprowl (C) were named. Current and former major leaguers who have been named postseason all-stars with the franchise include Donnie Sadler (SS, 1995), Shea Hillenbrand (C, 1998), Aaron Miles (2B, 1999), Jason Lane (OF, 2000) and Chad Qualls (RHP, 2001).
