Cheng selected as top left handed starter in Midwest League for 2005

Lansing, Mich.- Rosters for the 2005 Midwest League Post-Season were announced today and Lansing left handed starter Chi-Hung Cheng was named to the squad as the left handed pitcher, one of 14 spots on the Post Season All Star roster voted on by the league's 14 Field Managers.

Cheng, 20, was also named to the Midwest League's Mid-Season All-Star squad, but did not participate in the game played at Peoria's O'Brien Field. The left hander from Kaohsiung City, Taiwan is currently 6-6 on the season with an ERA of 3.28 in 25 games for the Lugnuts in 2005. His 140 strikeouts rank tops in the Midwest League.

Cheng's selection to the squad made him the only Lugnuts player to be picked. South Bend, the team with the best overall record in the league at the time of this release had three players selected as well as having the Midwest League MVP, Midwest League Prospect of the Year, and Manager of the Year. 10 of the 14 clubs in the league had at least one representative with Burlington, Clinton, Fort Wayne and West Michigan left without a roster spot.
