PRINCE GEORGE, BC- The Prince George Cougars are excited to welcome Cole Waldie to the organization as the team's Director, Broadcasting, Communications & Public Relations.
"Cole is a talented, young broadcaster who has local ties, and we feel will fit in seamlessly with our team," said Cougars' General Manager & Head Coach, Mark Lamb. "His enthusiasm and dedication stand out and we look forward to him delivering an exciting product to our fans."
Waldie joins the Cougars after he spent the last three seasons (2019-2022) with the Prince George Spruce Kings in the British Columbia Hockey League as the Director of Communications & Broadcasting. Prior to joining the Spruce Kings, the Prince George, BC product was the Director of Media & Play-by-Play Broadcaster for the Vancouver NE Chiefs in the BC Elite Hockey League. Waldie is a graduate of the Broadcast Arts & Entertainment program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
"I could not be happier to join the Prince George Cougars' family. This is truly a dream come true," said Waldie, "As a young kid who used to be a season ticket holder and witness the magical playoff run in 2007, working for this franchise, in this capacity, has always been a dream of mine and I can't wait to get started."
Among his new responsibilities, Waldie will broadcast all 68 regular season games plus playoffs for the Cougars starting in September. The 2022-23 Western Hockey League regular season schedule will be released in July.
Waldie takes over from Fraser Rodgers who has moved on to pursue a new opportunity. The Cougars organization would like to thank Rodgers for his contributions to the team over the past five seasons and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
